Eliminate Earth
Loops - Point 5 of Six Point Plan
Equipotential
bonding is a very important measure to reduce equipment damage and
life hazard for any site to be protected. Equipotential is achieved
by means of bonding all circuits and conductors in a manner that
reduces potential differences between elements of the lighting
protection system, the metal framework of the structure, metal
installation, conductive parts and electrical and telecommunications
installations at the facility.
In some
fasilities however, for the purposes of minimizing "noise" and
for other reasons, separate grounds may be install for
lighting protection, main power, computer and communications
equipment. Although this may safe under normal conditions,
large potential differences can occur under "fault" or
"transient" conditions. ERICO's TECs can solve these problems
by remaining in "open circuit" under normal operation, but
forming a "closed" circuit under transient conditions.
